Preschool
Explorers Preschool will provide children their first positive educational experience. We follow the Saskatchewan Ministry Of Education- Play and Exploration early learning guide and use TimberNook outdoor curriculum. Classes run Sept-May following the catholic school calendar.
Play is recognized as the child's method of learning about the world. Classes will offer a variety of firsthand experiences using play-based learning.
1. Tuesday/Thursday 9:15 to 11:30 am class Children must be at least three years old by November 30, 2025 and be fully potty trained to register in this class. 14 spots
2. Mon/Wed/Friday 9:15 to 11:30 am class Children must be at least three years old by November 30, 2025 and be fully potty trained to register in this class. 14 spots
FEES:
Registration fee $ 150/year
2 days a week is $ 155/month
3 days a week is $ 175/month

Explorers Preschool is non-denominational and no parent help is required. Our focus is on nature-based play experiences that challenge the senses and inspire creativity, independence, and imagination in the great outdoors! We do offer an introduction to French to support those entering French immersion in KG.
Program runs from September to May.
Come to the open house with all your questions. This evening is a come and go and it is a parent information session. Preschool is offered on a fee for service use, with limited enrollment. Spots fill up on first come first serve, a link is provided at Open House to sign up that evening. Regisrtation opens next day to public.

Explorers' Lead Teacher
Growing up in rural Saskatchewan, I can appreciate the wonders our seasons have to offer in an outdoor classroom setting. Seeing my own children enjoy the outdoors through their preschool years has further supported that wonder. Now that my children are moving on to full-time formal education, I'm excited to be back in the classroom! Before having children, I have enjoyed many roles in several preschool classrooms in Saskatoon while completing my Early Childhood Educator Certification. I have stayed involved in early childhood education through music and movement at the dance studio and local community programs and hope to bring that creativity and physicality into the Explorers program. In 2023 I become a fully trained and certified TimberNook teacher and took over the role of lead teacher at Explorers Preschool.

Explorers Preschool is the first school in Saskatchewan to be a certified TimberNook school. TimberNook provides nature-based play experiences for children that challenge the senses and inspire creativity, independence, and imagination in the great outdoors.
TimberNook curriculum gets children moving, exploring, and thinking in new creative ways that simply cannot be accomplished inside the classroom. TimberNook provides innovative outdoor play experiences for children that challenges the mind and body.
The TimberNook weekly curriculum is restoring play and it’s benefits to education. Nature is the ultimate sensory experience! These experiences allow children to participate and learn at their own pace.

Founder and Director
My name is Shelley Bettker. I am the founder of Explorers Preschool and Before and After School Care. I spent 10 years teaching at Explorers and now I am stepping back into a role of the director. I have a Bachelor of Education, ECE Level 2 and I am a TimberNook certificated teacher and provider. I love working with children and will help the teachers create lifelong learners. Explores preschool's environment and programming is designed to allow students to feel safe, comfortable, and confident.
